DICE 2013 in Las Vegas is the 16th annual gaming convention sponsored by the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences. Today at 9:25 a.m. Pacific Time, J.J. Abrams will join Gabe Newell of Valve Corporation for the keynote discussion titled “Storytelling Across Platforms: Who Benefits Most, the Audience or the Player?” The DICE website has the full PDF press release.
The discussion won’t be live-streamed as originally announced – they were probably afraid Star Wars fans would crash the internet (or at least their site). Fortunately, gaming site Polygon indicates they will be liveblogging it, so keep an eye on their storystream for DICE 2013. And USA Today reports the event will subsequently be made available on YouTube at Variety‘s channel.
Update #2: Variety has now posted the video:
Tricia Barr's novel, Wynde, won the 2014 Independent Publisher Book Award Gold Medal for Best Science Fiction/Fantasy/Horror Ebook. She was also part of Silence in the Library's successful all-female creator science fiction and fantasy anthology Athena's Daughters, which is available now. For excerpts and tales of her adventures in creating a fictional universe, hop over to TriciaBarr.com.
