I agree 100 percent about the romance being completely removed from the novels since 2004! Men like myself also like to have the camaraderie and romance in the novels. I had left the series (somewhere around 2004)and only recently started reading the books after that time. Last week I read “Sacrifice.” I really wish I hadn’t because the Mara/Luke relationship was what drew me to the EU novels to begin with all the way back in 1991 as a teenager in high school. Ever since Return of the Jedi, I always thought Luke needed a foil/leading lady such as Mara Jade and the EU really made it happen. Now, however, I have no reason to continue to follow the series at all. The only thing that would bring me back is if they brought Mara back to Luke.ALIVE!! I really miss this relationship!! So depressing!!!
By the way fangirl, you are gorgeous as a rebel pilot!! Too bad there weren’t more female x-wing pilots in the movies. maybe fewer x-wings would have gotten blown up!!!
