Daisy Ridley Roundup: June 4 – June 24, 2014

Since our last Ridley Roundup, an Instagram account popped up with an image of Daisy that read, “Day 1! #StarWarsVII #firstday #working #lucky #Jedi.” Daisy Ridley addressed the account and the pictures on them, noting the photos were taken and posted without her consent.

She tweeted from home on June 10 with her Corgy, which are one of my favorite, albeit most stubborn, dogs. In this picture, her resemblance to Natalie Portman is striking.

For those wondering if Daisy Ridley’s character is related to Padmé by way of Leia, a recent update on IMDB listed her as Jaina Solo. On June 14, Ridley responded to questions on Twitter, noting that anyone can edit the database. Ridley’s Tweet has since been removed, and the IMDB listing was modified to “Jaina Solo (rumored)” and then back to no character name.

New user milotic12 posted high praise for Ridley in the TFN Spoilers Allowed forum.

I was at stage school with Daisy around three years ago. While not a close friend I was lucky enough to see her act in various productions (She’s a cracking singer too).

I’m a huge Star Wars fan and have been since I was a wee lad so you can imagine my surprise when I eagerly looked at the casting.

Take my word for it Daisy won’t disappoint. She has the absolute fire of a Skywalker in her eyes, she can be fiercely brave and vulnerable in a mere sentence. Audiences at school were absolutely enthralled by her performances. She possesses the balls and fire of Leia while the compassion and astuteness of Padme. I have no doubt she’ll be playing Han and Leia’s daughter.

All I can say is watch out for Ms Ridley. I couldn’t feel like the part was in a safer pair of hands.

From the actress spotlight by Daisy Ridley’s agent:

2014, Feature Film, Lead, Star Wars, Lucas/Disney, JJ Abrams

On June 22, Star Wars fans take over Disneyland for an unofficial Star Wars day. Ridley and John Boyega both retweeted the @StarWars Twitpic about the event. Maybe it’s on their calendar for next year already? Hopefully Disney World’s Star Wars Weekends will be, too!

In one of our earliest Ridley Roundups we posted a video of stunt actress Chloe Bruce, who was in Abu Dhabi during the Episode VII filming. There is no evidence yet to know if Bruce is doubling Ridley; she could be playing a villain. Bruce has posted another video for her campaign to encourage people to train and achieve their goals, this one with quite a bit of staff work. No doubt Bruce can wield a lightsaber if called upon. Check it out!
