Athena’s Daughters Update

The Kickstarter for the first volume of Athena’s Daughters was the most successful prose anthology ever on Kickstarter. It includes stories by Mary Robinette Kowal, Gail Z. Martin, Sherwood Smith, Cleolinda Jones, and me, among many others, and was edited by Jean Rabe. One stretch goal was a specially created cover, which I’ve included below. Here’s your reminder about the open call for submissions for the second volume. Among the short stories, you will find “Mission Accomplished” – a story about Gemini Reed set in the timeline of my novel Wynde.

Just the other day Mary shared her thoughts on the story:

Tricia Barr’s novel, Wynde, won the 2014 Independent Publisher Book Award Gold Medal for Best Science Fiction/Fantasy/Horror Ebook. She was also part of Silence in the Library’s successful all-female creator science fiction and fantasy anthology Athena’s Daughters, which is available now. For excerpts and tales of her adventures in creating a fictional universe, hop over to TriciaBarr.com.

Tricia Barr took her understanding of brand management and marketing, mixed it with a love of genre storytelling, and added a dash of social media flare to create FANgirl Blog, where she discusses Star Wars, fandom, and the intersection of women within Star Wars fandom. She is co-author of Ultimate Star Wars and Star Wars Visual Encyclopedia from DK Publishing, a featured writer for Star Wars Insider magazine with numerous articles on the Hero's Journey. Her FANgirl opinions can be heard on the podcasts Hyperspace Theories and Fangirls Going Rogue. Mission Accomplished really IS a great story!

I wanted to give another nudge to the whole anthology, Volume I of ATHENA’S DAUGHTERS. It contains a wide variety of interesting tales, and of special note is the remarkable diversity to be found in them.

ICYMI: there is a link in FANgirl Tricia Barr’s bio above (click on “available now”). That will take you to the Silence in the Library page where you can purchase Athena’s Daughters, Volume I – then you can read Tricia’s Mission Accomplished as well as a lot of other great short stories for yourself!
