Almost Time to ConGregate

As mentioned previously, I will be a guest at ConGregate in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, from July 11-13. Here is my full schedule. Last week I talked about my exciting Saturday schedule. Sunday’s schedule will provide another new experience as I get to do my first reading from my novel Wynde. From there, I dash to a panel with the fabulous team from Athena’s Daughters. Later I moderate my second panel, which may or may not touch on a Star Wars favorite: the Empire.

Silence in the Library’s Kickstarter for Athena’s Daughters funded at over 500%. AD was created entirely around the concept of providing a platform by which female authors, artists, graphic designers, and editors could showcase their incredible talents.

Join the publisher, authors and fans to discuss what made this successful and why so many were drawn to the project.

Imperial March

Moderated by Tricia Barr

Guests: Stuart Jaffe • Stephen J. Simmons • Travis Surber

Why are they always Galactic Empires? Why not republics, democracies and confederacies? Why do we assume that the future government is going to be some autocracy from the past? Is the Galactic Empire more romantic or just easier to write?
