It’s down to the last day to bid on cool items, including an iconic Dave Filoni hat signed by Dave Filoni, Sam Witwer (voice of Darth Maul), Tom Kane (voice of Yoda), Matt Lanter (voice of Anakin Skywalker). There will be more opportunities to support Rancho Obi-Wan throughout the year.
RANCHO OBI-WAN ANNOUNCES 2014 FUNDRAISER EVENTS
Rancho Obi-Wan has revealed its fundraising plans for 2014, including an amazing eBay auction starting this week, and an annual gala at Rancho itself later this year.
First up is Rancho Obi-Thon, a seven-day eBay charity auction to raise funds for the ongoing cost of running Rancho. There are original artworks and prints, one-of-a-kind fan-made collectibles, autographs, posters, prototypes and many other items. Featured is a double-sided Revenge of the Sith theatrical poster autographed by George Lucas, Samuel Jackson, Ian McDiarmid, Hayden Christensen and others.
Donors include artists such as Dan Bergren, Katie Cook, Doug Cowan, Ingrid Hardy, Adam Hughes, Erik Maell, Eli Rutten, Allison Sohn, and Jerry VanderStelt. Other contributors include Tom Nelson, Prop Store, Paula Rosenberg, Walt Crowley, Gentle Giant, Highbridge Audio, Super7 and Funko. To start bidding, see eBay.
Also starting March 2nd will be a continuing series of eBay listings under the title ROW Dupe Deals. These are duplicate Star Wars items that owner Steve Sansweet has amassed over the years, usually by forgetting he already had an item and buying it again! Steve is contributing all of the items for the auctions, and proceeds will go to Rancho Obi-Wan. Each purchase will be accompanied by a certificate attesting that the item is a duplicate from the world’s largest Star Wars collection.
Following the success of last November’s World Record Night party and auction at Rancho Obi-Wan, the evening of Saturday, Sept. 20, 2014 has been set for this year’s gala. Save the date now; details will be revealed in coming months. To see what a great time last year’s event was, check out Steve’s blog on StarWars.com.
All of the funds raised for Rancho Obi-Wan are used for such things as maintenance, security, professional services, providing tours for other charities to raise money, and community outreach. None is used for buying collectibles.
