Star Wars Vanity Fair Digest
As you’ve probably heard by now, the cover of the issue of Vanity Fair that has just come out features Rey, Finn, Han Solo, Chewbacca, and BB-8. On May the 4th an exclusive gallery of The Force Awakens photos shot by Annie Leibovitz went up on their website. And now the full cover story is also available online in case you haven’t been able to find a copy. It took several tries to find mine.

How Apple Inspired the Stormtroopers of Star Wars: The Force Awakens: Finally we get to hear from Michael Kaplan, the costume designer for The Force Awakens. There’s talk of his work on Blade Runner, his costuming approach, and what updates have been made. No, he does not tell us where they sourced Rey’s backpack.
What Star Wars: The Force Awakens Producer Kathleen Kennedy Learned From Working With a Teenage J.J. Abrams: She talks here about making personal connections as well as group experiential connections with Star Wars. There’s also a bit on filmmakers making the films they want to make and the series of events that lead to her crossing paths with J.J. Abrams for the first time. Basically, Kathleen Kennedy is fantastic.
John Williams Says His New Star Wars Score Will Include the Original Themes: Williams beautifully describes his approach to scoring a new Star Wars movie and then kindly answers a random question that was of personal interest to the interviewer.
What It’s Like to Be Lucasfilm’s Resident Star Wars Geek: Story group member and creative executive Pablo Hidalgo gives a quick history of how his job developed, explains how the previous books are now Star Wars Legends, and gives a bit more insight on how George Lucas gave direction for post-Return of the Jedi Star Wars stories.
