Updates on Upcoming Expanded Universe Novels

With San Diego Comic-Con and Celebration Europe II on the horizon, there’s been an unexpected amount of Expanded Universe novels news to catch up on recently.

The newest release, Crucible by Troy Denning, goes on sale tomorrow. We’ll post Kay’s review of the novel that morning, too. The first fifty pages are available as a free preview at Suvudu. Lightsaber Rattling and Star Wars Report have posted their reviews and Goodreads has several too.

Up next is John Jackson Miller’s Kenobi on August 27. Random House posted an excerpt of the opening chapters. Erich Schoeneweiss revealed on Jedi Journals that Miller also has a Kenobi short story in an upcoming Star Wars Insider.

On September 24 comes Rebellion & Empire: Razor’s Edge by Martha Wells, with Princess Leia in the lead role. Knights Archive unearthed the promotional blurb, which reveals that the novel features the Rebels on the run from the Empire prior to taking up hiding at Echo Base on Hoth – as well as Alderaanian pirates. Now that’s intriguing.

Roqoo Depot reported the preliminary release date of March 4, 2014, for the next book in the Rebellion & Empire series, Honor Among Thieves by James S.A. Corey. This one has Han and Chewie as the headliners.

In the course of promoting the release of the second book in his original sword-and-sorcery series, Paul Kemp was asked about the status of his future Star Wars work and explained that it’s currently “on standby.” Thanks to Roqoo Depot for spotting the comments.

Finally, this Thursday Ashley Eckstein will be doing another Facebook chat on the Star Wars Books page. Hopefully we’ll have more good news for EU fans of Her Universe!
